  If you've looked at higher-performance laptops, you may have seen "Centrino 2 Technology" listed on some models. Here's a quick description of what this means:

  Intel's "Centrino 2" processor technology builds in a 3 key features:
  

  1. 802.11n Wireless - greater range and faster wireless speeds.
  2. Lower power consumption - longer battery life.
  3. 3MB 'Smart Cache' & 1066MHz Front Side Bus - increased performance & better multitasking.

  In practice, what this means is you get a faster, better connected laptop, with longer battery life.
  
  Is Centrino 2 Really Faster?
  
  To prove that Centrino 2 faster, Intel ran a series of tests comparing Centrino 2 & Centrino machines - one with a 2.26GHz processor, one with 2.33GHz (very similar). The Centrino 2 machine performed roughly 50% better. The Centrino 2 laptop encoded 30 minutes of High-Def video in 63 minutes, vs 122 minutes with the Centrino machine.
